A CENTRALISED, AUTOMATED, SEQUENTIALLY, OPERATING, AUTOMATED ELECTRIC CHARGER

Budget: 126.296,98

FEDER Grant: 56.833,64€

Introduction:

Currently the whole of Europe, and the world in general is immersed in an action plan that promotes shared economic prosperity, social development and environmental protection for all countries. Among the objectives are the development of sustainable cities and mobility.

In fact, it is one of the six essential factors for a city to be defined as “smart” and green, according to the 2030 agenda.

The Problem:

To make this substitution possible, it is necessary to implement electric chargers in all types of existing housing, including housing blocks with communal parking, in addition to, private parking lots, shopping centers, public parking lots….

This type of space has its own specific problems due to several factors:

  •  The high number of cars forces to contract high power of electric energy to be able to charge the cars simultaneously. Incurring in an important economic expense.
  •  If several cars are to be charged quickly, the power peaks will be very variable, creating instabilities in the electrical network.
  • Introducing high power can even be dangerous in blocks of apartments.
  •  The public charging service in parking lots forces the user to plug and unplug the charger at specific times, in addition to moving the vehicle from the place once the charging is finished, being uncomfortable to use and impractical.

Product:

A centralized, automated electric charger that operates sequentially is currently under development. It consists of several plugs for electric car charging.

The user parks his vehicle, plugs in the charger and reserves the charging hours he wants, through a mobile application. The system charges the vehicles sequentially, optimizing the charge, avoiding charging moments with many vehicles charging simultaneously and other moments without charging.

In this way it is possible to contract lower electrical powers, the system is much more stable and safe, and does not require the user to physically go to the vehicle to plug or unplug the charger.

This product is designed for places with large charging needs and a multitude of vehicles such as:

  • Private parking lots in neighborhood communities
  • Public parking lots, shopping centers, hospitals…
  • Public vehicle fleets (e.g. buses).

And it meets an existing need that the current systems are not able to supply, since at all times individual chargers are not very useful in collective environments with a large number of vehicles.
