Innogestiona participated in the LIFE25 Climate Action Welcome Meeting, held on 14 October 2026 in Brussels, where it presented LIFE RESIFIRE, a new European project aimed at improving wildfire prevention and climate change adaptation in peri-urban areas.

Patricia Mora and Juan Pablo Martín attended the event on behalf of Innogestiona, joining representatives from the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), LIFE project coordinators and European organisations committed to climate action.

During the meeting, Juan Pablo Martín presented LIFE RESIFIRE, introducing its main objectives, planned activities and expected results.

The presentation took place within the “Resilient Agriculture, Land Use & Forestry” thematic working group, which focused on resilient agriculture, land use and forest management. This session provided an opportunity to share new European project initiatives and encourage the exchange of knowledge and experiences among participants.

LIFE RESIFIRE: Building More Resilient Territories Against Wildfires

LIFE RESIFIRE (Resilient Peri-urban Strategies for Wildfire Prevention and Climate Adaptation) aims to transform vulnerable peri-urban landscapes into safer, more resilient and sustainable territories in response to the increasing risk of wildfires.

The project promotes an integrated territorial management approach based on stakeholder participation and the combination of solutions tailored to the specific characteristics of each territory.

Its main areas of action include participatory planning, landscape management through grazing and agroforestry systems, environmental restoration, the implementation of nature-based solutions, and the use of digital tools for risk monitoring and decision-making.

These activities will be implemented in three pilot regions: Extremadura, Galicia and Central Portugal, representing different ecological, social and governance contexts.

The presentation also highlighted some of the project’s expected results, including the implementation of fire-resilient land management measures across 6,370 hectares, the development of three co-created wildfire prevention strategies in wildland-urban interface areas, and a reduction in vulnerability for more than 115,000 people.

A Wildfire Prevention Model with Potential for Replication Across Europe

One of the key features of LIFE RESIFIRE is its focus on long-term impact and replicability.

Beyond the interventions carried out in the pilot areas, the project aims to develop methodologies, tools and governance models that can be adopted by other European regions.

Expected outputs include a digital risk-monitoring platform, a mobile application, training materials, policy recommendations and a replication handbook.

The goal is to facilitate the integration of these solutions into climate adaptation policies, wildfire prevention strategies and territorial planning, encouraging their implementation beyond the territories initially involved in the project.

Strengthening European Cooperation on Climate Action

The LIFE25 Climate Action Welcome Meeting, organised within the framework of the European Union’s LIFE Programme, provided an opportunity for new projects to learn about CINEA’s main management and monitoring guidelines, exchange experiences with established initiatives and establish connections for future collaboration.

For Innogestiona, participation in this event represents an important milestone in the launch of LIFE RESIFIRE and an opportunity to raise awareness of the work that the consortium will carry out in wildfire prevention, sustainable land management and climate change adaptation.

Through LIFE RESIFIRE, Innogestiona reinforces its commitment to territorial innovation, European cooperation and the development of solutions that contribute to building landscapes and communities better prepared to face climate-related challenges.
