The V Iberian Congress of Dehesa and Montado, a highly relevant event that will take place on 29-30 October 2024 in Évora, Portugal, is organised on this occasion within the scope of the INTERREG POCTEP SOS_PRODEHESAMONTADO project.

This event, considered a key space for the exchange of knowledge and the promotion of strategies that support a sustainable future for the dehesa and the montado, will address in this edition crucial issues such as:

ABOUT THE SOS_PRODEHESAMONTADO PROJECT

The SOS Prodehesamontado project (2023-2026), co-funded by the Spain-Portugal Cross-Border Cooperation Programme (Interreg VA – POCTEP), is a key initiative to address the climate challenges that threaten the survival of the valuable dehesa-montado ecosystem and to promote its role as a green infrastructure for the cross-border region and for the prevention and buffering of natural hazards. The project proposes sustainable management models that promote the adaptation and restoration of these systems; develops strategies that put an economic value on the products and services they offer; and supports capacity building and knowledge exchange between key actors involved in their management.

The consortium behind SOS Prodehesa Montado is composed of the Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, Population and Territory of the Regional Government of Extremadura (coordinator), Innogestiona Ambiental, University of Évora, University of Extremadura, Cooperativa Actyva, CICYTEX (Centro de Investigaciones Científicas y Tecnológicas de Extremadura), CEBAL (Centro de Biotecnología Agrícola e Agroalimentar do Alentejo), and APORMOR (Associação de Produtores de Bovinos, Ovinos e Caprinos da Região de Montemor-O-Novo).

In addition, ACOS (Associação de Agricultores do Sul), UNAC (União da Floresta Mediterrânica), FUNPASOS (Fundación por la Sostenibilidad Participativa) and FEDEHESA (Federación Española de la Dehesa) support the project as associated entities.
