The European project SOS ProDehesa Montado works tirelessly to restore and strengthen the resilience of dehesa and montado ecosystems in the face of the growing challenges of climate change.
These unique landscapes, fundamental to biodiversity and the rural economy, face significant threats due to soil degradation, biodiversity loss and the effects of global warming. To address these risks, the project promotes comprehensive strategies that combine technological innovation, regenerative practices and sustainable management.
Among the most important actions are the regeneration of native trees, the improvement of soil quality and the adoption of sustainable agroforestry practices, which are fundamental for preserving the structure and function of these ecosystems. In addition, the project promotes collaboration between researchers, producers and administrations to ensure the economic viability of the dehesa-montado.
With a practical and committed approach, SOS ProDehesa Montado seeks to inspire and mobilise the agroforestry community towards resilient management models, demonstrating that environmental conservation and economic development can go hand in hand.
