Dancing Histor(y)ies- binding communities and heritage through dance- is the European project aimed at linking communities and cultural heritage through dance. Co-financed under the “Creative Europe” program, the project focuses on promoting archaeological sites through performing arts and aims to identify an innovative, effective, and replicable model for the enhancement of cultural sites actively involving local communities in artistic production and conscious heritage enjoyment, also promoting the international circulation of European artists.
Dancing Histor(y)ies project involves 13 institutions of 11 different European Countries with long experience in heritage site management, performing arts and dance production, research and training, as well as in the design, running and evaluation of EU funded projects. The Consortium of Mérida Theatre Festival is one of the project partners.
Between April 17 and 18, 2024, an in-person meeting of partners took place in Poznan (Poland), within the headquarters of the “Polish Dance Theatre”, as host partner, with the majority participation of the project partners.
The agenda of the meeting mainly addressed the progress and pending tasks within the different work packages included in the project, emphasizing the activities related to the co-creation process of the 2024 edition of the festival and training activities through the exchange of experience between partners (peer learning). During the first week of July, three dance performances will take place in the case of Mérida, with the participation of the companies ILDance (Sweden), 420P (Czech Republic) and a local production designed with professionals from Mérida (Alba Go and Juan Carlos Tirado Carroza).
The meeting has been a good opportunity to understand the creation contexts of each participating territory providing a good opportunity to refocus the development of the project thanks to the face-to-face exchange. Innogestiona has participated in the meeting as management technical support to Mérida Classical Theatre Festival.
