The V Iberian Congress of the Dehesa and Mountain Pasture will be held on 29 and 30 October 2024 in the Portuguese city of Évora. This is the fifth edition of a forum that brings together managers, owners, companies, associations, researchers, public administrations and other entities linked to this ecosystem.
The aim of this new edition is to reflect on business models and solutions that can open new paths for these unique systems threatened by climate change and low profitability. Using this common thread, the congress will also analyse strategies for the management of the Dehesa-Montado in a context of climate change, as well as the challenges and opportunities for profitability related to green requirements, ecosystem services and biodiversity.
The Congress will include oral presentations and round table discussions around three thematic blocks: “Strategies for the management of Dehesa-Montado in a context of climate change”, “Biodiversity and ecosystem services as a challenge and opportunity for profitability” and “Business models for a productive system in danger”. There will also be three exhibition areas for scientific posters, demonstration of business models and innovations and dissemination of projects related to the Dehesa-Montado. Finally, for those interested, the programme includes a visit to a Montado farm with discussion of the management model.
Registration is via the website https://congresodehesamontado.com/ and will be open from 5 July.
The meeting is organised by the University of Évora – MED, Innogestiona Ambiental, CICYTEX, Junta de Extremadura, Montado Living Lab and the cross-border cooperation project SOS_PRODEHESAMONTADO, with the support of the University of Extremadura, FEDEHESA, ACTYVA, CEBAL and ACOS.
