The MOBIRURAL project, in which Innogestiona Ambiental participated as a partner, has been recognised as a European best practice in the field of sustainable rural mobility by the European Rural Pact Community Platform.
This recognition highlights the value of the work carried out between 2022 and 2024 by the project consortium, comprising organisations from various European countries, including the FENICE Foundation, the Institute for Climate Protection, Energy and Mobility, Intelligent Transport System and Innogestiona Ambiental.
A project to transform mobility in rural areas
MOBIRURAL, funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ KA202 programme, has had as its main objective the promotion of innovative solutions to improve mobility in rural areas, whilst fostering the capacity-building of local actors, international cooperation and the design of strategies tailored to the real needs of the territory.
During its 30-month implementation period, the project has worked on:
- The development of innovative approaches to sustainable rural mobility
- The incorporation of new technologies applied to transport in rural areas
- The creation of cooperation networks between European organisations
- The promotion of policies aimed at territorial cohesion and accessibility
Impact and European funding
Mobirural ran for 30 months and had a total budget of €269,998. This project was funded by the Erasmus+ KA202 programme, which is run by the European Union to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe. For the period 2021–2027, this programme places particular emphasis on social inclusion, the green and digital transitions, environmental sustainability and the fight against climate change
This European recognition, awarded by the European Rural Pact Platform — a European Union initiative to highlight inspiring projects — positions MOBIRURAL as a benchmark for sustainable mobility and rural development in Europe.
Commitment to rural innovation
Innogestiona Ambiental views this recognition very positively, as it highlights the importance of continuing to promote projects that integrate innovation, sustainability and social cohesion to improve the quality of life in rural municipalities.
The case of MOBIRURAL demonstrates that European cooperation is key to moving towards a more connected, accessible and resilient rural environment.
