Both natural and cultural heritage provide society with a wide range of socio-economic benefits and services, whether through tourism and leisure, education, employment, factors influencing quality of life or protection against environmental disasters. The cultural heritage sector in the EU has indirectly created jobs totalling 7.8 million person-years (CHCfE) and has been recognised as promoting the “cultural well-being” of both residents and visitors.
